Pain Awareness Month wrap up
September marked Pain Awareness Month, an initiative of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). The month sparked more conversations and understanding about pain between health professionals, people living with pain, policy makers and the wider community. Awareness of chronic pain and its impact is imperative and a priority in ensuring better pain management for consumers as outlined in the National Strategic Action Plan for Pain Management.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Pain Awareness Month activities. With over 20 contributors plus a plethora of other content we managed to reach over 130,000 people and make 100 new friends.
We are all learning. Pain Awareness Month was a reminder of this, as communities came together to discuss pain and learn and share with peers.
To mark Pain Awareness Month, Painaustralia released a series of educational materials, including factsheets, blogs, online videos, and a webinar raising awareness of the reality of living with chronic pain.
A summary of all activities from the month can be found here.
