Defence and Veteran Suicide Royal Commission survey
The Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide was established on 8 July 2021. The Commission will examine the systemic issues and any common themes in past deaths by suicide of Australian Defence Force members and veterans, and the experience of members and veterans who may continue to be at risk of suicide.
19.7% of veterans have their ability to function limited by chronic pain, and in 2002–2017 the veteran suicide rate was 18% higher than Australians of similar age. The Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide is ongoing and Painaustralia will be providing a submission.
We are seeking feedback from anyone who has served or is serving in the defence forces and living with chronic pain to reach out to us and share their experience by completing this short survey. You can remain anonymous if you prefer, but we’d like to hear your story so it can inform and strengthen the experiences we present to this important Royal Commission.
