A message from the CEO
This month has seen the release of our draft Language Guidelines for People with Chronic Pain for consultation. Already we have seen it lead to an excellent discussion about how we talk about pain and people living with pain. If you haven’t had a look yet, please do so and help create appropriate, inclusive and non-stigmatising language.
We are also taking expressions of interest from people living with pain and their carers to become part of our Consumer Advisory Group. This Group will be contacted for advice and input on a range of policy submissions, Painaustralia campaigns and key position statements.
We are really excited to be launching an in-depth video interview with our newest Pain Champion Peter Rudland, who courageously shares his story of life post a serious accident while serving in Afghanistan. It was also an honour to meet Peter's fellow Invictus Games team mate and rowing gold medallist, Ben Farinazzo, who dropped by the Painaustralia office.
2019 is shaping up to be a busy year, with state and federal elections to be held. We’ll be starting the year off on the right foot, with our National Strategic Action Plan for Pain Management to be presented to the state and territory leaders at the first COAG summit in 2019.
I hope you enjoy catching up on the latest achievements and events of Painaustralia, and wishing you a restful and happy festive season.
Regards,
