National Pain Week Success
Painaustralia congratulates Chronic Pain Australia on another successful National Pain Week.
With this year’s theme focusing on best practice pain management requiring a team approach and model, Painaustralia used the opportunity to raise awareness about inadequate pain management in residential aged care facilities.
We were pleased to see our message shared by 2GB radio, ajp.com.au and Australian Ageing Agenda. Painaustralia was also able to raise this issue with GPs and health professionals in its contribution to the ThinkGP blog published during #NPW17.
As always the #NPW17 conference was a highlight, showcasing the progress that has been made particularly in New South Wales since the National Pain Summit in 2010, as well as the challenges that still remain.
The conference closed with a brainstorming session to co-design a pain service in western Sydney, giving an opportunity for consumers to partner with health professionals and have their voices heard.
“With so many people with chronic pain feeling isolated and alone, campaigns like National Pain Week provide an opportunity to them to have a voice and to raise awareness about the impact of pain in our community,” said Painaustralia CEO Carol Bennett.
