AGM Success: Board and Staff Changes
Painaustralia’s sixth Annual General Meeting on 23 May in Sydney was a great success, with keynote speaker CEO of the Consumers Health Forum of Australia Leanne Wells sharing key insights into the role of government relations and consumer advocacy in improving health policy and clinical outcomes.
CEO Lesley Brydon and Chairman Robert Regan outlined achievements over the past year and spoke about key priorities for the year ahead. The report may be accessed from our new website here.
The Chairman acknowledged the key contribution of departing board members Elizabeth Carrigan and Dr Penny Briscoe and welcomed new directors: Dr Graeme Killer AO former Principal Medical Adviser to the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and Dr Newman Harris Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney Medical School.
Mr Regan also noted the departure of Karina Knight who has been a cornerstone in Painaustralia’s operations since our inception, working closely with Lesley Brydon. He thanked Karina and acknowledged the very special role she has played to help develop the organisation into the effective advocacy body it has become.
This event also marked the retirement of founding CEO Lesley Brydon and the announcement of a new CEO, Carol Bennett, who will take over the role on 1 July.
