Memoir Trial - Testing Two Promising Treatments for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition that most often affects one limb (arm, leg, hand, or foot) usually after an injury. CRPS is believed to be caused by damage to, or malfunction of, the peripheral and central nervous systems.

CRPS is an example of an over-protective pain system. CRPS is characterised by changes in skin colour, temperature, and/or swelling and sweating.

Painaustralia is a strong advocate for a multidisciplinary pain management approach to restore movement and function of the affected limb and improve overall wellbeing.

The MEMOIR trial is a Commonwealth Government-funded, randomised controlled trial testing two novel treatments for CRPS. MEMOIR will test whether combining medication with a rehabilitation program can provide better results for people living with CRPS.

The MEMOIR trial will be delivered remotely, via Telehealth, allowing Australia-wide recruitment of 160 participants.
