Queensland’s move towards Real Time Prescription Monitoring

Painaustralia has had discussions with Queensland’s Department of Health about the implementation of its Real Time Prescription Monitoring system.

While Painaustralia is supportive of the RTPM and the undoubted benefits to having more information on medication and prescribing data, (especially for high risk medications like Schedule 8 and some Schedule 4 medicines,) we remain concerned around the outcome of monitoring and the ultimate consequences for consumers if no other treatments and supports are made available to assist them to manage their pain conditions.
