New App to improve the lives of people in chronic pain.
13 February 2024
Living with chronic pain can be challenging at best with often limited treatment options available leading Painaustralia to collaborate with Kaha Health to produce a new App designed to proactively help consumers self-manage their chronic pain.
Painaustralia CEO Giulia Jones said Painaustralia was determined to raise awareness of chronic pain and advocate for treatments and options to help people live happier lives despite their chronic pain.
“Painaustralia together with our consumers, clinical advisers and health professionals have worked with Kaha Health to provide an App that helps users learn about their pain and what helps them to live well, manage their pain and reduce symptoms,” Giulia said.
“This App is like a pocket pain coach. It is a friend and a support system all in one. We are hoping to see a great uptake of the App and to see it evolve and grow. As the peak advocacy body for those living with chronic pain, we are committed to seeing a range of supports for those with chronic pain to be able to move and track progress, to receive encouragement and information. This App does all of that.
“Give the Kaha App a go if you are a person who would like to take control of your pain journey, to start moving towards your personalised pain solution and along with your health care team you can watch your life change and improve with this App.”
Kaha Health director Landell Archer said she was thrilled to have Kaha available on the App store to help consumers who live with chronic pain.
"We are thrilled to announce our Kaha App, a revolutionary solution designed to help people self-manage their chronic pain. This marks a significant milestone in our commitment to help two million people break up with their pain,” Landell said.
“We felt compelled to create an App after knowing how many people are experiencing chronic pain and how much education delivered conveniently could help. We’re a group of passionate individuals that represent all the facets of chronic pain - patients, family members and health professionals.
“We felt an App was the best way to go so that patients could have support in their pocket, education in bite sized chunks and they felt in control of their journey through the pain.
"With Kaha, users can now experience the ease of a companion App learn about their pain and figure out what is working for them to reduce it. Our team has worked tirelessly with consumers and Painaustralia to incorporate cutting-edge technology to redefine the way people experiencing chronic pain interact with Kaha. Short articles for education together with pain and movement logging give you insights into how you can break the cycle of your unique pain settings."
Key features of the App include:
- Daily Pain Education: the latest research is available in manageable chunks so you can make the best decisions about what treatments to embrace.
- Daily Progress Tracking: witness your triumphs with the intuitive tracking system. Celebrate each small victory as you make steady progress towards managing your pain.
- A guide to the best resources to embrace mindfulness exercises and stress-relief techniques to help you regain control over your well-being.
- Personalised insights: your journey is unique but you’re not alone. As you work through Kaha, you’ll get personalised insights into what is working for you.
Landell said the Kaha App would continue to evolve and be updated based on user feedback and emerging technologies.
“We have to thank Painaustralia for their work alongside us providing us with their clinical group and consumer group to provide feedback."
