Daniel Scali receives Guinness planking record
Congratulations to Daniel Scali for officially receiving the Guinness World Record for the World’s Longest Abdominal Plank. Daniel broke the existing record of 8 hours and 15 minutes on 6 August 2021, by staying in an abdominal plank position for an amazing 9 hours 30 minutes and 1 second!
Daniel, who has Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), wanted to break the record to raise awareness and funds for Painaustralia to support its work for Australians living with chronic pain.
CRPS, which Daniel developed when he broke his left arm after falling off a trampoline as a 12-year-old, is characterised by severe burning, stinging and stabbing pain. It affects approximately 5000 people in Australia.
“I am attempting to beat the world record for planking to help raise awareness for people dealing with chronic pain and specifically Complex Regional Pain Syndrome,” Daniel said.
Daniel decided to attempt this record to prove that "no matter what condition you have or challenge you face, you can overcome them and achieve your goals".
Daniel refuses to let pain define him, instead he uses it to push him to excel. “Don’t let pain determine the person that you are or the person that you want to be, let it be fuel to the person that you know you can be.”
