Pain in the Media

Painaustralia has published a media release in support of National Pain Week, which offers hope to Australians living with pain.

We also highlighted the need for a national response to chronic pain, to ensure Australians with pain can access affordable best practice treatment for their pain condition in a media release. This was related to the release of figures by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare that showed an increase in opioid prescribing of 24 per cent between 2010-11 and 2014-15.

The issue gained traction with Carol Bennett’s opinion piece published in the Daily Telegraph and we also provided comment for Channel 7 News, Ten Eyewitness News and an ABC news story, while our media release was reproduced in Mirage News.

There was also an excellent piece about chronic pain in Australia published in the Medical Observer in June.
